See you at Bohoris’
Bohoris’ cafe, as the locals call it, is a traditional coffee and snack place, that every tourist of the island owes a visit to.
The company has been in existence since 1920 and has retained the traditional, graphic identity of the café, which is supported primarily by the wooden sign and the menu boards, the wooden chairs and marble tables, as well as by the local grandparents, who gather in the cafeteria each morning to comment on the news and play cards. Of course, the modern element also exists in the shop, but it is centered on the retro style, which is in turn represented by the jukebox and the black and white floor tiles .
As is well understood, Kali Kardia in Kimolos is one of those places that are suitable for the whole day. From early in the morning, you can drink your coffee, which is really exceptional, in the company of the locals mentioned above or take it to go and walk towards the medieval settlement of Kastro or more generally in Chorio, since the shop is located on its main road. Coffee, of course, is served at any time of the day.
This food in this restaurant is simple yet delicious! Is all freshly made and served with love. Is not fancy or super expensive. Just a really good local place where you can experience some local dishes. The host is very nice and makes u feel right at home.
From 6 o’clock in the Morning
A hearty breakfast is served from 6 o’clock in the morning, which includes local eggs and vegetables, cooked with taste. As the day grows, the first tourists arrive in the café as the morning patrons leave. Around this time, beer or a varied selection of tsipouro offered by Kali Kardia, can comfortably take the place of coffee. Necessary accompaniment are the traditional and yet exclusive ouzo-snacks, which include fresh seafood and delicious desserts.
We love Trip Advisor for reasons like this. First time to this island and what to do. We searched best restaurants to eat and this came up. Didn’t let me down. Get the goat and moussaka. The Greek salad with the home cheese is amazing as well. The white wine topped it off.
From one o’clock at noon and with the appetite growing, it is finally possible for someone to taste the main course of Kali Kardia. Both cooked and a la minute, all prepared with artistry and simplicity. The secret, of course, lies in the ingredients, which, apart from fresh ones, are also all local, out of the few in quantity but exquisite in quality products that are produced in the island. Undoubted specialties are the goat (cooked in a dutch oven or with lemon sauce). Equally delicious are the “Imam” and “Souzoukakia”, the various cheese pies with local cheeses (Xino and Manoura), which can also accompany the stunning Greek salad offered instead of Feta just to change some of your usual gastronomic habits and to indulge in the ones of Kimolos. All these, can be accompanied by the fine wines of the store.
In the above we should mention the courteous and above all sincere service, which will tell you even if the dishes are yesterday’s.
Food is excellent, wonderful people! Located in the heart of this charming village, all perfect. We loved it!
In the afternoon, after eating, as a dessert or as a accompaniment to the coffee, you can also enjoy the famous desserts of the shop, which include chocolate pies, orange pies and kataifi. At the same time, while the sun begins to set, the traffic is transferred to the colorful tables outside the shop, which give the familiar feeling that you are in the yard of a local home.
Finally, let me say that Kali Kardia also delivers the food offered and also sells cigarettes and smoker items in general.
