Kimolos is an island that harmoniously combines the features of a modern tourist destination with traditional architecture and aesthetics. The picturesque settlements with their characteristic Cycladic style are found almost all over the island, but where they find their most representative expression is in the famous Chora.
The Chora, or as it is called by the local residents, Chorio, is the capital of Kimolos. It is located in a very good spot at the foot of the so-called Xaplovouni and is the most genuine expression of chalk beauty. White stone houses with blue touches, whitewashed courtyards and narrow galleries complete the image of the classic Cycladic aesthetics and charm.
In this wonderful settlement, where the most important part of the local population of Kimolos lives, you will find in its center the historic Castle. Built during the Middle Ages, it is a trademark of the Chorio and of Kimolos in general, and is essentially the center around which the houses and the rest of the settlement were built.
Apart from the historical presence of the Castle, in the capital of Kimolos, the heart of the summer life of the whole island beats louder than anywhere else. In Chora you will be able to find several rental accommodations for your stay, a large number of restaurants with fine traditional - and not only - food but also many shops that will provide you with basic and useful services (mini market, ATM, etc.).
